What to expect When Visiting

Gray UMC

When You Enter Someone will greet you at the door and offer you a copy of the church bulletin which gives instructions for worship and details about church activities. Most worship services last about 60 minutes or a little longer when we serve communion. If you need to leave during the service, just slip out discreetly.
Attire – There is no expected dress code. Dress-up, dress-down, just dress as yourself.
Seating – Take any vacant seat you like or our ushers will be glad to assist you. They can direct you to restrooms or other facilities and provide special devices for the hearing impaired.
Song Books and Bibles – These are in the pocket of the seat in front of you. The words for the most of the songs and other worship elements will be either in the bulletin or on the screen.
When to Sit or Stand – If you are not sure, just follow everyone else or remain seated throughout the service. Don’t feel obligated to join in all of the group responses or songs, but feel free to. There is no right or wrong way.
Small Gift for First-Time Visitors – We don’t want to embarrass you, so you can pick up you welcome gift as you enter or on your way out.
Offerings – As a visitor, we don’t expect you to finance the church. Don’t feel embarrassed to pass the plate along without contributing, but you are welcome to contribute if you wish. Many members mail in their contributions or give online, so you won’t be the only one passing the plate.
Attendance Register – Along with our members, please take a moment to sign the Attendance Register that will be passed. We want to get to know you and welcome you properly to Gray UMC.
